I went to a session at the Brisbane Writers Festival last month that included Gentill. During the discussion this book was described as “a story within a story within a story”.
That, together with the fact that Gentill was warm and funny, prompted me to get it from the festival shop. (Yeah, marketing!) I’m happy that I did.
It’s a murder mystery set in Boston involving a young Australian writer, interspersed with letters that the “author” is receiving from her American proofreader.
It was an extremely clever and fun interpretation of a well-trod genre.
