You want to watch a three-hour Scorsese film? Nah, I’m good, thanks. I’ll take the non-fiction book option instead.
A truly devastating story that I had never heard about before. It helps, obviously, to not know how it’s going to end. So if you do see the film, you’ll have a different experience reading this.
But as a non-fiction work, the pacing was excellent and key revelations delivered without any over-dramatic impulses, making it a sensitive and powerful account.
