The well-known myth of a demigod, in a telling that’s more accessible than The Illiad.
If you read this book, please also read Pat Barker’s The Silence of the Girls. (It’s a version of the same story, but told from the perspective of the enslaved woman Briseis.)
That’s not to takeaway from this novel. I enjoyed it, as much as anyone can enjoy a tragic love story, complete with overbearing parents and vengeful grief.
