How many other books have some sort of gimmick? I don’t mean cheap or tacky. I mean “a behaviour that you don’t expect when reading a book”.
Two stories, two protagonists, but you literally flip the book over at the end of one story to start the other. It’s genius because they're both immigrants whose worlds feel flipped. (How does this work for the audio book?! Or the ebook??)
One story feels oppressive, the protagonist anxious and shrinking. The other story feels free, the protagonist expanding.
Where you start, and where you end up, is entirely your choice.
